Why Canvas?

The word ‘canvas’ is devised from the Arabic word for hemp. Hemp has great fibrous strength and is the world’s oldest fibre-yielding plant. The Chinese were probably making canvas out of hemp in around 3000 BC.

Today’s cotton canvas is a heavy, closely woven fabric used to protect against the weather, whenever sturdiness and durability are required. The fabric is very hard wearing, fire retardant and water and rot resistant. These augment its weather resistant capabilities and make an ideal choice in architectural, industrial and marine applications.
